Top 9 Plant-Based Restaurants You Have To Try In Philly!

Hello! Welcome back! Today I’m writing about my favorite hot spots - casual style, that you have to visit if you are in Philadelphia!

We moved from Southwest Florida to Philadelphia in December 2018, one of the reasons was to find more options for our plant-based lifestyle, and the truth is that since we arrived here, we have found amazing and unique restaurants! It does not compare with New York or some West coast cities however, in Philly you can eat great and authentic food!

After thinking about all the places we have visited, this was the list that never stopped flashing in my head and to which I always take someone who comes to visit! So if you have the opportunity, with all my heart I tell you that you have to try this. In no specific order, this is my list:

Tattooed Mom (T-mom):

This bar&restaurant on South Street. is super cool, with a hip and rock vibe, the staff very in tune with the concept of the place and friendly! I would also describe it as a cultural space where art, ideas and expression of the most recent events predominate, you will always find something interesting to see there! and they also offer free lollipops!

Whenever I have been, they have a weekly menu with one specialty per day at an unbeatable price! It's bar food and beyond, they have cultural options like "pierogies" or "Mexican Coca-cola", those kinds of little things that make a difference and the fries are literally gigantic! Their menu is 75% vegan and excellent for lunch or dinner!

My favorite option: Mom’s Vegan Burger & Waffle Fries! or if you feel like trying something new, try “Vegan Secret Menu Item” I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

Triangle Tavern:

Located in South Philly! It's a casual bar&restaurant, an excellent option to go after work for happy hour from 4 to 6 pm every day! or to enjoy a good dinner in a classic rock / kinda goth-ish atmosphere by candlelight, with quality service.

My favorite option: VEGAN SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS! because I have never had better meatballs in my life! and my husband recommends: Buffalo Vegan Wings, amazing! We were really impressed, whenever we bring someone new we tell them that the meatballs are not vegan to see if they discover the truth ... and they have told us that they taste even better! and we totally agree.

Goldie:

This was one of the first vegan places we tried in Philly, and it was a total surprise! I never imagined the food would be so authentic and delicious! It is the evolution of a casual-exquisite meal, wow! They serve a single style of falafel sandwich, which is everything and more! the fries are from beyond and a tahini shake! unbelievably delicious.

My favorite option: no discussion, E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G.

Luhv Vegan Deli:

Coming from Florida and still "new" to this lifestyle, I never imagined a vegan deli! It was a surprise, also very convenient because in LUHV in addition to selling ready meals, they also sell vegan “Delicatessen” to go! It was a BINGO in my life, plus the products are of excellent quality and made by themselves! I always go to the "Reading Terminal Market" location where they also have dessert options and boxed water! I love the concept!

My favorite option: Pasta Salad and Rueben Sandwich! a healthy and perfect option to replace animal protein! it is really delicious and fast.

The Tasty:

My Favorite Breakfast Place in Philly! It is a vegan diner in south Philly, that will make you feel like you are in your home kitchen, they have many options and it is 100% vegan! (They offer gluten-free and allergy-free options by request!) The portions are perfect and you are going to love them!

My Favorite Choice: Chocolate Chip Pancakes, Tempeh Bacon, and “Dirty Jersey” All Together! because I can never decide on just one thing!

Unit Su Vege:

This BYOB located in Fairmount, is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants! With many vegetarian and vegan options, the place is super clean and the attention is very pleasant, portions and price to match!

My favorite option: Shanghai dumplings, Mushroom strips and Sesame seitan, delicious!!!

P.S & Co:

100% Plant Based, Gluten Free, Organic and Kosher! I love the concept of this restaurant, and it is one of my favorite places to go for dinner, each bite of this place is of the highest quality, going to this restaurant means not re-reading the menu and ordering with the greatest peace of mind knowing that Everything I'm going to eat has been well thought out, they have a creative menu always with new options, the service is excellent and we always leave wanting to return!

My favorite option: Organic garden pad Thai and Organic Double Chocolate Brownie Sundae! You are Welcome!

The Greyhound Cafe:

This place is 100% plant based! I love that they offer different gastronomic options in one place, Texmex, Mexican, Italian, American… and all of them delicious! I'm a fan of Mexican food, I literally never get tired of eating beans and pico de gallo, but their Mexican food options are on another level! Actually, everything there is 10/10! It is the perfect place for brunch or lunch, they also offer a "lunch menu" and catering! the location we always go to is at 1839 Poplar st. with their friendly and helpful staff!

My favorite option: Parmigiana di Pollo, "Life Changing" ChimiChanga and No Bake Cheesecake!

Crust Bakery:

Crust Bakery is a business owned and operated by women, they are a team of chicks who came together to make the best pastry ,with purpose and 100% plant-based! everything they bake is beautiful and delicious! As soon as I got to Philly I tasted a "Brookie" for the first time and at Luvh! it was love at first bite! then the "Loaves", until I figure where to find them and now I love everything! I even convinced a friend to incorporate plant-based pastry into his cafe! after trying them there was no denying! you can try all their sweet options at their new store in Manayunk.

My favorite option: Blueberry crumble, Brookies, Brownies!

Alright! This was the list of my 9 favorite places to eat-casually in Philly, so far! I always try to find new places and write down the ones that I love, to take my friends when they come to visit! I hope you liked it and if you are in Philly, I totally encourage you to try some of these options! or maybe extend this list to your friends that want to try something other than a cheesesteak when they come to Philly! or maybe you dare to try a vegan cheesesteak at T-Moms!
